Name/Work Name: Dawn (Dusk)
Canon: Pokemon (game)
Canon Point: right after beating the Elite 4
AU/CRAU: N
Age: 16
History: wiki
Personality:
A bright teenage girl who dreams of becoming the Pokemon Champion, Dawn is a sweet, gentle, and painfully naive soul. While she's very friendly and open to everyone she meets, she can seem rather childish when she continually insists in trying to think the best of everyone. Someone would have to be blatantly acting mustache-twirling evil for her to consider them a terrible human being.
Dawn also has the tendency of jumping into trouble headfirst without really thinking of the consequences. Whenever she sees someone in trouble, her first response is always to help, whether they be human or Pokemon or something else altogether. She doesn't do it for a reward or recognition for her deeds (although the praise certainly does feel pretty good) but because she firmly holds a childlike and ridiculously naive belief that everyone should help each other. It's almost to the point of prioritizing others before herself.
Unfortunately her naivety means she has a hard time detecting any ulterior motives. In a small, sleepy town such as Twinleaf where she grew up knowing everyone on a first name basis, it's hard for Dawn to be suspicious and cautious of strangers. She failed to register Cyrus as suspicious during their initial meeting and just shrugged him off as simply being 'weird' before continuing on her journey. It came as a complete shock to her when she snuck into Team Galactic's HQ and discovered that their leader was none other than that weird guy who was going off on a monologue at complete, total strangers.
But contrary to first impressions, she's actually not a total idiot - just only when it comes to judging character. She's skilled enough to have won all eight gym badges of Sinnoh and to defeat the Elite 4 along with the Sinnoh champion, in addition to navigating and figuring out how to pass through the natural mazes and puzzles in the wild. Dawn just immediately trusts everyone unless they've proven otherwis, and even then she'd still be willing to give them a second chance. And a third chance. And then a fourth chance...
Of course, that could also be attributed to her own stubbornness. When she wants something - whether it's winning a gym battle, a Pokemon, or even just to be a friend - she'll refuse to give up. If she needs to, she'll throw herself over and over again at the obstacle in question until she finally reaches her goal. That stubbornness can also backfire on her, since she can quite easily get in over her head and not realize until it's too late.
Debt: Forgot Bidoof in the daycare with a Ditto and is now overflowing with baby Bidoofs; wants each and every one of them to find a loving home that will love and cherish them.
Suitability: She honestly doesn't quite understand the severity of what she's getting herself into - she's seeing this more as a job and doesn't quite understand that signing yourself into servitude isn't the same. But she does feel responsible for being careless and totally forgetting her Pokemon at the daycare that she'd feel any suffering is punishment for her mistake.
Previous Game Info: n/a
Inventory: Her duffel bag (which carries an alternate winter outfit), the Poketch on her wrist (the original smartwatch before it was even thing), a collapsible bicycle which can switch from a regular bike to a high-speed mach bike that's harder to handle, andninety-nine masterballs as many Pokeballs, potions, status healing items, and berries she can cram into her bag.
Also, her Pokemon team: Empoleon, Gallade, Crobat, Garchomp, Rapidash, and Giratina.
Abilities, Strengths, and Weaknesses: Dawn looks like a skinny teenage girl and she's about as strong and fast as one. However, she's got a definite talent for getting along with and taming animals. She's also surprisingly sturdier than she looks (she can fall several stories and be perfectly fine) and it turns out she's a surprising little speed demon on her bike who can pull off some basic tricks. She's also got a knack for baking, thanks to endless hours spent making Poffin bread.

Characterization Sample:
I guess this must be what outer space is like, Dawn thought to herself. Except space wouldn't have a giant centipede-like dragon staring down at her silently, making her feel exceptionally tiny and insignificant. Well, she was pretty sure outer space didn't have a Pokemon like that; if there was anything she'd learned today, it was that nothing was certain. If someone had told her this very morning that she'd find herself in another dimension with the fate of the world at stake, she'd have laughed it off as some sort of silly joke.
She's not laughing now, here in this world where the laws of physics and reality as she knew were warped and distorted. The ground she'd been standing on - hadn't it been the ceiling when she'd first entered? Or perhaps it had been a wall? She couldn't remember anymore, not this far along. But she knew, with absolute, one hundred percent certainty, of one thing: unless she wanted Sinnoh to be swallowed up by this world, she had to stop Giratina.
Glancing over her shoulder, at the blonde woman standing some distance away watching them silently, Dawn recalled her earlier words.
"Perhaps it was fate."
"Fate?" Dawn repeated, not quite understanding by what Cynthia meant, panting a little from her fight with Cryus. The adrenaline was still pounding through her body, as if she'd just ran a thousand mile marathon, and she was trying to calm herself down, to focus on the older woman's words.
"Yours, I mean. Giratina's been waiting a long time here - and maybe it's been waiting for you." The other woman turned to glance up at Giratina, who had been silently watching the battle between Dawn and Cyrus; while it was no longer rampaging like when they had first entered its world, it was like the quiet before the storm.
"Me?" To her embarrassment, that came out more like a squeak; clearing her throat, she tried that again. "Me? But I'm just a trainer! And you, you're the Pokemon Champion--"
"But I wasn't able to stop Cyrus - it was you." Turning to face Dawn, Cynthia let her hands rest on the younger trainer's shoulders, firmly cutting off her protests. "You just didn't happen to be here today, Dawn. How many times have you stopped Team Galactic? Who was it that the legendary lake Pokemon guided here, to this spot? Perhaps this meeting between you and Giratina today, right here, right now, is the reason why both of you were born."
There was a pause, before she finished in a matter of fact tone, "And you're also the only one here who has Pokemon that can still fight."
Swallowing hard and gathering her courage with one last look at the Champion - I hope you're right, Cynthia - Dawn took a step towards her fate.
